(Last time: After Kieran is found dead, the legacy is put on hold as the Lotharios grieve for their lost son and brother. But as Brooke and Katie teeter on the brink of eighteen, everyone quickly realizes it's time to decide on the new heir or heiress. Nobody really wants to replace Kieran - but with money so tight, only the chosen heir (or heiress) will receive a college education. How can you pass that up?...)

Dear Israel,

Hey! It's Brooke.

How are you, little brother?

Myself, I'm fine...college is taking its toll on me, of course, and it's not all fun and games. But then, I bet working a job isn't, either, so I'm just trying to enjoy going to school while I still can.

Some of college is actually fun. We get to go wild for a few more years...and I get to wear really short skirts that Dad would never allow. Ha, ha! I'm just kidding.

Then again, some of it is really, insanely hard.

All of us have really weird schedules, too - that's why I haven't been picking up the phone when you call. I take evening classes and I sleep through the morning.

Also, I'm naturally in really close quarters with everyone else here, seeing as we live in dorms. A lot of times I ended up just turning my phone off to keep from waking up everyone else.

It's close quarters here at the Greek House, sure, but it was a lot more crowded at the other Sim State University dorms. They don't let you join Greek Houses until your sophmore year, and we have new freshmen coming in all the time. As for the seniors, I was afraid I'd go deaf, because there were so many loud graduation parties being thrown all. The. Time!

Our Greek House was all male for a while, until I came along. Well, not just me. Me and another girl.

But I'll tell you plenty about her in a minute.

I'm sorry I didn't invite you over for the little party we had. You were still twelve then, and we're not allowed to bring anyone under eighteen on campus.

And I'm afraid Katie misinformed you. That thing I was wearing was a toga and not, in fact, my underwear.

(Do you really think I'd go prancing 'round a college campus in my underwear?!)

On second thought, don't answer that.

So, about the other girl. And right away you know this isn't going anywhere good...

Okay. The girl. Her name is Suzanne. She was nineteen when we met - our freshman year. She was one year older than me, but we were both freshmen.

Those are the facts.

I'm only telling you the facts, because when I try to tell you about the feelings, I get all weird inside and I start not making any sense.

But I'll try to go on. Bear with me here, okay?

We had dorms right next to each other, and after a little while I noticed that she was surprisingly considerate - no late-night parties, no loud talking after midnight, not wandering in half-drunk, you know the stuff. That was when I began thinking that I might like to get to know her a little better, because nobody else in my dorm was like that.

And I mean, get to know her as a friend. I don't know when things took a romantic turn.

Really. I thought I was straight up until the point she and I started getting romantically involved. And I honestly can't tell you when that was.

No. Really. I can't.

Dad will probably be asking me why I picked Suzanne when there were so many other boys at the Greek House. But it's not like that. I'm not weird or deformed or anything, I'm just gay.

There. I said it.

I'm gay.

For a while things were awkward between Suzanne and me. She knew she was gay, but I hadn't, and she could tell too.

She would ask me if it was my first time slow dancing, or kissing on the lips, or doing whatever we were doing. And no matter if I said yes, or that I had done it before with a boy, she would tell me that it was my first real time doing it, so it was special anyway.

Some things felt the same, or almost the same, doing them with another girl.

On the other hand, there were things that I didn't even know you could still do.

Go ahead and tell me how disgusting it is that we did WooHoo together...I don't care, Israel. You always thought that sort of thing was gross and that's a very good thing, trust me. At least until you are eighteen.

We were in our sophmore year when that happened...for the first time I mean.

And if you study this picture really hard you'll notice what's on Suzanne's left hand.

Yes, Israel, I'm crazy. But I'm so, so happy.

I'll see you soon, Israel. I promise.

Love,
Brooke

~*~

Two years after I sealed that envelope, I stood outside the door to our Greek House with a graduation outfit on, and a smile on my face. Knowing that I would soon be home. Knowing that I would soon see my family again.

~*~

Israel and Katie had both grown up - Israel was fifteen, and Katie was twenty-two, as was I. (Obviously, of course.)

As for Mom and Dad...they had grown older, too. Mom had retired, and Katie had been helping to support them in their old age. I took in the expressions on their faces as their gazes moved towards the girl who had come with me.

I took a deep breath and stepped forward.
"Mom, Dad...I'd like you to meet Suzanne.
"We've been engaged for two and a half years."

AUTHOR'S NOTES:
- This should be a sort of milestone: first gay legacy Sim! Ha ha. I'm joking, I'm joking.
- YES, genetics are going to be passed on to the next generation! You'll see how in the next update.
- You don't have to tell me that Young Adults can get married; I know they can. I just prefer to let them finish college first, because their marriage feels more "official" to me after that. Yes, I'm strange.
- Suzanne ended up dropping out of college because I used a hack to speed up Brooke's college. Uni gets repetitive after a while. I'm planning for Suzanne to be a stay-at-home mom, anyway, while Brooke gets a job to support her family.
- Yes, I got lazy with the personality chart pictures. I forgot to take enough pictures and by the time I remembered it was too late. Katie's picture stayed the same because, wouldn't you know it, I've played up to generation 4.2 and STILL haven't done After That Jazz.
